Campaign Launch
Late 2007 sees the launch of the Blue Blindfold campaign which aims to raise awareness among key groups of the nature and extent of human trafficking in the UK.
The key theme of the campaign is 'Don't Close Your Eyes' and the blindfold represents the risk of people being unaware of the crime going on around them. Given the nature of the crime, victims understandably can be reluctant and frightened to come forward. As such, in order to combat this modern form of slavery both the public and the authorities need to be vigilant and aware that the crime is going on around us right now. Not just in the big cities and not just down dark alleys but among all walks of life across the UK.
The 'About UKHTC' section explains more about the nature and scale of the problem. We need people to look around and see situations which may indicate a trafficking crime - take a look at the 10 Signs section to help you spot victims.
The campaign will evolve over time and is designed to encourage the public to share any suspicions or information with the police who will investigate with the specialist resources of the UKHTC.
